Stella's Child

Develop. Connect. Succeed.

Stella’s Child exists to support Indonesian youths from deeply disadvantaged backgrounds as they prepare to leave children’s homes and orphanages and enter the world of work.

We are an efficient and highly effective grassroots organization which equips these youths, aged 12-19, with the skills they need to succeed in life and break the cycle of poverty for themselves and their families.

LOVE OUR EARTH -  Gift Collection

The Love Our Earth brand was developed by the youth in our flagship Entrepreneurship Program.  The brand realized early success in its beachwear collection which was expanded in Year 2.  In 2017 and 2018, the youth studied new business opportunities and launched a new collection, The Gods and Goddesses of Bali, to support the conference and event industry.  Major clients have included SOPHOS, Estee Lauder, and MAC Cosmetics.  The brand is now being positioned as a viable for-profit commercial business to provide funding to Stella’s Child for ongoing program support as well as employment opportunities for program graduates.

Community Action Projects

The power of citizenship in today’s global society begins at home and it is vital for positive youth development.  The character of individuals as members of society, their behavior and their willingness to take action, are all fundamental to this power.  These are precisely the characteristics that the Stella’s Child Class of graduates are exemplifying.  In an effort to grow empathy and to foster the youth’s identities as engaged citizens, the CAP program provides opportunities for them to gain an understanding of how they fit into society and how they have the ability to help solve societal problems.

Designed to implement the skills developed through our Life Skills Academy, Entrepreneurship, and FirstEmploy programs, the Community Action Projects allow the youth to lead, develop, implement, and evaluate, under the guidance of skilled mentors and staff, a community-centric action program in their home village.  Projects will focus areas include:

•      Environmental Protection

•      Waste Management & Recycling

•      Poverty & Hunger

•      Education

•      Social Justice

The youth engaged in the program are trained at some of Bali’s premiere businesses and receive additional training from Stella’s Child in Entrepreneurship, Finance, Global Citizenship, Self Esteem and Confidence, Computer Literacy, English Language, Character and Moral Development, as well as Problem Solving, Critical Thinking, and Employee Rights and Responsibilities.  The program has received major accolades from the youth, the businesses, and the mentors engaged.
